Ok, I’m going to be honest about something; usually writing hotel reviews is more of a chore than anything. However, the K West Hotel and Spa is completely different. I’m excited to tell you about it because it is exactly the kind of hotel that I LOVE. It’s not just another big hotel chain – it has a story, it has luxury, it has glam rock high tea and an incredible spa. I stayed here for two nights while I was in London for the World Travel Market in November and I wish I could have stayed longer. But let’s get down to details. Here’s everything you need to know.
K West Hotel London Review
About K West Hotel and Spa
K West Hotel is a former BBC office and recording studio. Music pulses through the walls of all 219 rooms in the funky hotel. You can feel the youthful, fresh vibe of the hotel the minute you step foot in the lobby
It is located in the Shepherd’s Bush area of London. The hotel is set back from the busy main street whilst still only being a 5 minute walk from the tube station. Shepherd’s Bush is on the central line so it’s just a straight line into London on the tube.
And if you like to shop (who doesn’t) then you are in LUCK, the Westfield Mall is less than 10 minutes walk from the hotel. You’ll meet all kinds of people at the K West Hotel. I could have sat in the bar people watching for dayyysssssss.
The Rooms in K West
I had a twin room and the first thing I noticed was the amount of space there was. Most London hotels cram as many rooms as humanly possible into the building in order to make the most profit. K West Hotel and Spa do not operate like this. Their smallest room is just over 200 square feet.
My room had a sofa and an office space. There’s a smartphone in every room with free data and free calls to certain businesses. Wifi is strong in the rooms and the TV has all sorts of channels. The only negative that I have about the room is that the bathroom door is GLASS with frosted rectangles. SO if you’re sharing…….. the mystery is DEAD. DEAD! I mean, it’s good to be comfortable in a relationship, but JESUS. No matter how much I love you I don’t want you watching me in the bathroom. Aside from that, the room was perfect.
The Food in K West
OK, I’ll admit now that I do not have the most educated of palettes. I like good, simple food. But K West Hotel and Spa does some incredible food. You can choose whether to have a continental or cooked breakfast. Definitely go for the cooked. I had the veggie breakfast and it was amazing.
I also had lunch at the K West which was an indulgent affair. Three courses is not what my waistline needs, but everything was so good, how could I say no?! There were breads and oils, Halloumi sandwiches and a gloriously hot, sticky chocolate fondant.
I didn’t get the chance to try the Glam Rock High Tea, but I saw it being set up and literally turned green with envy. If you get the chance, try it and send me photos.
The Spa at K West
This was my favourite part of the hotel. You can purchase a pass for the spa wet room from £10 if you are a hotel guest. There are also all sort of package deals available for guests/non-guests alike. There also treatments available. I made use of the wet spa room.
Robes and slippers are provided as well as a locker in the changing rooms. In the day spa there’s a hydrotherapy pool, a steam room, a sauna, a foot spa, a jet shower (google it, this was magical) and a real life snow room. You could spend hours in there. I would have if I didn’t have check-out looming. There’s the usual relaxing music and jugs of water filled with cucumber and lemons. When I first entered the spa there was a woman half asleep curled up in one of the chill out alcoves. It’s a great space to get away from the world and escape the stress of London.
Would I Recommend?
YES YES YES. Now, I know you may think that I am biased. BUT, I didn’t receive this stay completely free, I was given a media rate. So I did pay to stay here. BUT it was well worth the money. Next time I’m in London I’ll definitely stay here and make better use of that spa. I am all about fast paced adventure and excitement whilst still being able to come back to an oasis-like space at the end of the day. K West Hotel and Spa was the perfect hotel for me. This is an expensive hotel (around £170 per night). But if you’re in London for business/events and need somewhere to chill and eat great food it is completely worth it.
